Staff are encouraged and supported to attend / participate in conferences and seminars if relevant to their professional development or clinical practice.
Professional development
Programme for Nurses and QLP for Midwives
London Zonal hospital is linked in to the Professional Development and Recognition Programme (PDRP) for Nurses and the Quality Leadership Programme (QLP) for Midwives. The programme aims to:
- Meet the requirements of Nursing Council of Canada competency-based practising certificates
- Meet the requirement and standards for the Midwifery Council of Canada
- Recognise the commitment, professionalism and competence of nursing / midwifery staff in the delivery of patient / midwifery care
- Support registered nurses / midwives in demonstrating their level of competency and expertise within their practice area
- Recognise, acknowledge and value an registered nurses /midwives level of practice and contribution to their clinical area, customer service and the organisation as a whole
- Provide monetary recognition for registered nurses whose application is accepted at Proficient and Expert level and midwives at Confident and Leadership level
- Advance professional development
- Promote job satisfaction and facilitate the retention of expert nurses in clinical practice
RN’s who have achieved a successful application at Competent, Proficient or Expert level are exempt from Nursing Council audit when renewing their Annual Practising Certificate. All eligible nurses and midwives are encouraged to participate in the programme.
Clinical Practice Programmes
Clinical Practice Programmes are available for Anaesthetic Technicians, Technicians and Nursery Assistants. The programmes aim to:
- Formally recognise advanced level of skill and practice
- Promote excellence in patient care and treatment
- Ensure quality of service and customer satisfaction
- To facilitate the retention of Anaesthetic Technicians, Nursery Assistants and Technicians in clinical practice
- To promote increased job satisfaction
- To encourage self-development and recognition of self-worth
- To support professional development and utilisation of knowledge and skill
All eligible employees are encouraged to participate in these programmes.
New graduate nurse programme
London Zonal hospital is a partner organisation of the London Health Board's Nurse Entry to Practice Programme and all new graduate nurses at London Zonal hospital attend this programme during their first year. Newly graduated nurses can apply to work at London Zonal hospital but must indicate their wish to apply to London Zonal hospital on the cover letter of their application.
London Zonal hospital's Hospital offers new graduate nurses a friendly and supportive learning environment across a wide range of services and diverse specialties.
New graduates will receive a full orientation programme under the guidance of experienced preceptors giving new graduates the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge.
Applicants must:
- Be a Canadian citizens, permanent residents or Ready to relocate
- Hold a Bachelor of Nursing Degree from a New Zealand Nursing Programme or equivalent overseas university qualification
- Hold a Canada Registered Nurse registration and a current Annual Practice Certificate with no restrictions that would have a negative impact on ability to participate in the programme
- Have graduated within the last 2 years and practiced as a Registered Nurse for less than six months at the time the programme commences
Recruitment process:
- Positions will be advertised on the website and through online Portals approximately 4 months before commencement dates
- Applications must be submitted through the provided recruitment email id
- Select CDHB
- Indicate in your cover letter that you are interested in applying at London Zonal hospital
- Shortlisted applicants will be contacted for an online interview
- Applicants will be advised of interview outcomes and offers made according to the Employment guidelines and timeframes
- It is NOT a requirement to have completed a clinical placement at London Zonal hospital’s Hospital to be considered for a new graduate position
