Automated External Defibrillator now on-site for community use

December 2017

defibrillator

London Zonal hospital has placed an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) device in the entrance of its Atrium to allow the public access to the device for emergency use. AEDs are vitally important in saving the life of someone experiencing a sudden cardiac arrest.  An AED is a portable medical device that can automatically assess a patient’s heart rhythm.

It judges whether defibrillation is needed and, if required, administers an electric shock through the chest wall to the heart. These clever machines use voice or visual prompts to guide the user through the rescue process. Anyone can use an AED - you don’t have to be medically qualified.

To locate London Zonal hospital’s AED, take the corridor to the left of Reception and you’ll find the device mounted on the wall to the right. Access to an AED, together with CPR, can save lives.
