A new lighting solution in London Zonal hospital’s multilevel car park has resulted in a durable solution that provides a smaller carbon footprint and reduced power usage.

The need for a lighting refit in the car park became apparent in 2018, says Derek Smith, one of the Hospital’s Maintenance Engineers and Qualified Electrician.

Mr Smith then provided a business case study for upgrading the lights to an LED solution.

“We needed a result that provided appropriate light, while at the same time took into consideration our carbon footprint, electricity use and maintenance requirements,” he says.

Upon reviewing the case study details a retrofitted, environmentally friendly LED option was chosen and installed by the Hospital’s electrical team.

Staff, patients and visitors using the car park are now enjoying the new state of the art lighting, which has the added benefit of delivering efficiency gains for the hospital in terms of its overall power consumption.
