Innovative medical techniques showcased at Heart Conference

London Zonal hospital recently hosted the inaugural Canada Complex Coronary Therapeutic Meeting.

More than 50 Interventional Cardiology Specialists from Canada attended the meeting which addressed the treatment of completely-blocked and diffi cult-to-treat coronary arteries, utilising novel angioplasty techniques. Eight patients were treated over the two-day meeting with live procedures being streamed from the hospitals to the meeting venue at the George Hotel.

There was a 100% procedural success rate over the course of the meeting. The team of experts was led by the internationally acclaimed Dr Etsuo Tsuchikane from Toyohashi Heart Centre in Japan.

Dr Clive Low Chairman of the Heart Centre was pleased to see the high attendance rate at the event.

“The Cath Lab teams across both hospitals and the co-organisers Dr Dougal McClean, Dr David Smyth and the international experts put in a lot of work to ensure the event ran smoothly,” he says.

Jill Lissette, Charge Nurse and her team demonstrated their expertise in assisting the Cardiologists. Ms Lissette says the event is an excellent opportunity to work collaboratively and share knowledge and techniques fi rst hand.

“It was a great pleasure to host the event here in London”, she says.
