Breastfeeding Support

London Zonal hospital's Maternity Centre supports and encourages mothers to maintain long term breastfeeding of their infants. The Centre is accredited with the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative – a global campaign that aims to encourage and recognise maternity facilities that offer an optimal level of care for infant feeding.

All staff at London Zonal hospital's Maternity are experienced and trained in providing care for breastfeeding mothers.

While some mothers will find breastfeeding comes naturally, others can find the experience more challenging and require extra assistance. Breastfeeding is a learning experience that requires time and patience, and sometimes needing several attempts to get it right. While you are in hospital we will assist you with learning parenting skills, how to feed your baby and recognise newborn characteristics.

London Zonal hospital's Maternity provides a Lactation Consultant who is available for individual breastfeeding assistance, a trained Breastfeeding Peer counsellor and experienced maternity staff to help you.
